How Present Value Calculator Works

PV = FV / (1 + r/m)^(n x m)

Present Value (PV) is what a future sum of money is worth today, discounted at a given rate. FV = Future Value. r = annual discount rate. m = compounding periods per year. n = number of years. The formula reveals the Time Value of Money: a dollar today is worth more than a dollar in the future because it can be invested to grow.
